Ashley Judd and Valerie Biden speak at UNC

I had the opportunity yesterday to hear Joe Biden's sister, Valerie Biden, and actress Ashley Judd speak on behalf of the Obama campaign, in an effort to mobilize early voters.  Ashley Judd briefly covered some of Obama's programs and made a quick mention of his energy plan.  She then spoke about her personal passion for the issue of energy in America, and unrelated to the Obama campaign, she discussed a book called The The Green Collar Economy by Van Jones.  It sounds like a very interesting read, the main point is that both our economic and energy problems can be addressed if we invest in alternative energy.  It was pretty exciting to hear both of them speak - and early voting had a steady stream of voters.

Interesting looking book. If what Van Jones says is true we would have a much different economic system with renewable power. Just think if solar power was the the main energy source; we would have market speculation based on the weather. I wonder if Obama is following any of the concepts in this book.

RESPONSE TO VOLT-AIR:

Thanks for your comment. I haven't really looked into the book other than reading a brief description, but the idea certainly sounds plausible. It was interesting that Ashley Judd made a point of saying that her interest in the book was not connected to the campaign, and also mentioned that she had no idea if Biden or Obama had even read the book. I guess she was just being careful, as to what was coming from the campaign versus her own personal interests. I'm hopeful that if Obama is elected he will keep the issue of alternative energy on the front burner.
